By Cathy Tower

Generally, there some factors you must pay attention to before deciding on the best pet boarding facility you will settle to. When you are in your vacation or business trips, you must ensure that you pet is well taken care of. The good news is that, there are professionals out there that have outstanding services that will ensure your pet especially a dog, will not miss you as much as you may miss him. However, it is prudent to consider engaging the right provider for your dog.

Before giving out your pet to receive professional care, you should ensure that the caregivers have the ability and will feed your pet, groom it and bathe it regularly for all the time you will be away. This is the least you can do so as to ensure your pet does not get stressed when you are not in a position to take care of it.

Another thing to look out for is making that the care providers have operating the license as this would ensure that the care given to your pet meets the set standards and is of best quality. It is normal to get caregivers who do not have the requisite documents to provide such services and to engage them should be discouraged as much as possible since they are mostly unprofessional in their work.

As a client, you should not overlook a physical visit to the care givers facilities. This will give you a chance to observe the conditions and services that your pet will receive when there. More to that you will be able to make an assessment of the hygienic levels of the facilities and determine whether they are satisfying.

In addition to paying a personal visit to the provider home, it is also necessary to engage a provider with series of questions on his activities and animal schedules. This will help you to know the ratio between the working staff and the animal ratio. Some homes have unhealthy balance of staff to animals, and this leads to animal overcrowding which should never be encouraged. The provider should also ensure the animal goes freely outdoors for ones or twice a day.

In many cases, your pets especially the dog may be susceptible to illness or even some injuries. It is therefore prudent to make sure you settle for a provider who has the competence and ability to care for the animal. Many boarding homes have in-house veterinary services in their premises. Others, who do not a hospital, have a referral to a certain veterinary hospital somewhere.

You should also check on the price of the provider. Normally, there are providers who charge relatively higher than others. However, you should not compromise on price alone and forget the quality services you will achieve. Always make sure that the services of the provider match the price he or she is charging. It is also advisable to find a provider who will stick to your budget while at the same time providing quality services to your pets.

The other thing would be to avail sufficient information about your pet to the service provider so that special care may be given where necessary. This is helpful in avoiding stress on your pet and also making the care giver ready to handle your pet professionally and carefully. After all that you should sign the terms of service which will guide the whole process of providing care to your pet.
