The Egyptian Mau is a unique cat breed. It has naturally occurring spots so it makes it look like a small lynx or a darkly colored tree leopard. It is also a very athletic cat and can run up to thirty miles per hour, or roughly one half of the world's fastest animal, the cheetah. Many owners of this cat swear to the fact that this cat has springs for legs. It can ump very high and it is very rambunctious at times. When they get used to a eating a lot, it will be very difficult to cut back on amounts as the cat will have a sort of hunger strike until the proper amount of food is given.

A very strange and fascinating thing about this breed is its ability to sing. It actually sings like a small bird through chortles and chirps when it is happy and content. It also does this when curious or excited about something like when it sees an insect, and we all know that cats of whatever breed love to play with insects and other small animals.

An active male and female pair can easily produce you two litters per year. This is despite the fact that these felines have the longest gestation periods of sixty three to seventy days as compared to other cat breeds. One should not worry however when females are a bit overdue in delivering for they can still delivery a healthy litter.
