Sets For Baby Bedroom

By Darren Hartley

Baby bedroom sets almost always includes the crib. Changing tables, drawers and shelves, bassinets, rocking chairs and cradles are the other furniture pieces that comprise the set. However, having all these fixtures does not mark an end to the baby equipment needed in a baby's room. In fact, it only scratches the surface of what is actually required.

The piece in safe baby bedroom sets that provides a safe place to diaper and dress up a baby is a changing table. It must have a wide and easy-to-use safety belt. Easy-to-use here does not mean easy for the baby to release it.

The next components in baby bedroom sets are drawers and shelves. Using a chest of drawers requires the installation of safety latches so that a baby will be unable to pull the drawers out and have them fall on him. On a similar note, items, such as pins, must never be left on top of the dresser, which the baby could reach or pull down on himself, once he starts walking.

Bassinets are elements of baby bedroom sets that must be stable and not shaky. They must not have sharp edges. They must not have hinges or clips that could catch the fingers of the baby. They must not have sharp or rough areas that can scratch the sensitive skin of the baby.

Comfort is the primary consideration in the selection of a rocking chair, the next in our list of furniture pieces comprising baby bedroom sets. For comfortability purposes, one with an armrest for support when holding the baby would probably provide a best choice.

When looking for cradles as the last component of baby bedroom sets, look for ones with a locking mechanism. This lock prevents an unattended cradle from rocking, ultimately causing a sleeping baby to become wedged against the side of the frame as the cradle shifts its weight from one end to the other.
