Help In Proper Hog Waste Disposal Management

By Lianne Derocco

The hog industry is big and this is one reason that many people get into this kind of business due to its potentials for high profitability. This is one industry kind that has also its lots of business concerns also. Agricultural waste and how to dispose of this or the hog wastes are also problems, aside from many other problems. Regulations are imposed due to the potential effects this can give to people and likewise to the environment. Proper containment and disposal are done because of the seriousness of the problem that owners may potentially face.

One concern that business owners have to face is the proper management of agricultural waste products and its proper disposal. The farm company can construct containment lagoons or waste manure tanks and these are for proper disposal of hog waste and waste water. If the waste water in the lagoons leak and seeps into the water table in the area, this can pose a serious problem for the business owner. It will be a huge disaster if this happens because there are problems in the waste disposal management and leakages are not checked.

There has to be efficiency in the waste management methods, in which solutions for agricultural waste have to be developed for efficient disposal of waste. The systems in the waste management have to be efficiently done and this is not only in the hog waste disposal but likewise in the storage of manure and waste water in the lagoons. This is very important in the swine production business as a whole.

In the lagoons or waste manure tanks, sludge can form because of several reasons. It can be over a long period of time and inadequate agitation of the hog waste and waste water is done. Excess and uneaten feeds can also be included in the lagoon waste and add to the sludge formation. It is for these reasons that sludge removal is necessary. More sludge and crust formed in the lagoons can add to foul odor emitted, and this is not good to the environment.

There has to be swine waste management methods that have to be effective and the removal and disposal of waste water and manure have to be efficiently done and stored in the lagoons and pits. This can be done, the collection and storage of manure and waste water, but treatments have to be done also in order to lessen the environmental hazardous effects. Biological treatments can be done and these are with expected good results also.

There are biological treatments for the manure and waste water in the lagoons and manure pits, and these include Lagoon Activator and also AgraSphere. Establishing a balanced environment in the lagoons can be done effectively with the Lagoon Activator, a concentrated blend of natural bacteria and enzymes. AgraSphere is also used, and this is a safe and natural biodegradable product that will reduce sludge and crust formed, and this is used together with the Activator. This product needs no mixing and just thrown around the lagoons and pits because this is a ready to use product. It is a product that will just work on its own because it is a product with time release technology.
