By Ina Hunt

There are many terms that can be used to refer to this cone; it all depends on the cone that the people of a particular area are most conversant with. Some may refer to it as the Elizabethan collar, others as the E-collar and others, though not common, as the collar of shame. The term cone originated from the fact that the device is cone-shaped and the animals wear it around their neck. It has protective uses as it prevents the pet from licking and scratching its body where a wound is evident mostly after a surgical procedure. However, due to some negativity about the device, Dog Cone Alternative therefore necessary.

These gadgets were hated because they affect the animals in a number of ways. They restrict the vision of a dog which makes it bump into things on its way. They become extremely sensitive to the least of sounds produced from the outside since the cone amplifies the sound. They often vomit in these cones too which creates a very messy situation.

The complaints were taken into consideration and this made to the manufacturing of better gadgets that the pets felt safer in. This was so because even dogs appeared to be having a hard time wearing the cones. A couple of animals were seen to be behaving in a restless manner until their owner removed the device from their neck.

The material that used to make the former was opaque and hard. Developments were made whereby the building material was replaced with a softer on that made the animals be able to relax more and relieve the tension that comes about with wearing the cone around their neck.

Kong E-collars also take after the Elizabethan collar. The distinction between them is that they are made from transparent material not like the others that are opaque. Dogs are now able to feel more comfortable as they can see their surrounding in a better way and do not have to feel as though their vision is being interfered with.

Innovation of a collar that was able to be inflated came a long way. It acted as a pillow which was very soft and easy. Another advantage is that as the dog knocks over items on its way, it is not hurt because the inflatable collar acts as a cushion.

When the wounds on the body of the animal are interfered with either by scratching them or biting them, they may take a really long time for the wounds to heal. In other cases. The infection may be even more severe. To avoid all this, that was where the need for the introduction of these neck gears came in.

The behavior of such a dog can tell one much about how it feels about the collar. Some may run and hide others tend to destroy the edge of the cone among others. This portrays that an alternative to the dog cone device ought to be bought to ensure peace is maintained.
