There are certain times where pets incur injuries. A vehicle may have hit them all of a sudden while they run roaming a place. There are times where they are involved in a fight with another animal. There are also times where sharp objects may have hit them accidentally or they have fallen from higher places.

In these times, they certainly will be bandaged to cover their cuts and wounds. Numerous pet owners utilize cones for dogs to prevent the bandage from being chewed on or licked upon by these animals. However, some of these dogs do not like to have these things enclosing their necks. Because of this, owners can consider some tips to help the dog out with this commodity.

The item should be one that is recommended by the veterinarian. The size of the hole should fit into the neck of the pet. If a person decides to purchase one on his own, it should be approved by the veterinarian. It should not be too loose that he can remove this easily. It should also not be too tight which could rub on his skin, which will cause him pain.

If the dog is uncomfortable with the item on when he goes outside or through doors, he needs to be lead around for a few days. He will be assured that his safety is ensured when he goes to other areas with this thing on. If the pet is not budging, the individual should not be forcing him in going somewhere. In these instances, dogs will have lesser peripheral visions so he his path should be cleared from other objects.

It is essential for him to drink water and eat food. However, it is difficult for him to perform these actions if he has this commodity on. He may get very messy as well as only get little amounts of water and food. It will be more easier if he drinks and eats on bowls placed in elevated areas.

The cone should be checked regularly. Aside from that, the area around the neck should also be checked regularly. There should be no debris nor signs of irritation on the skin. In case there are any, a doctor should be contacted immediately.

Cleanliness must be observed during these cases. Hair removal on the section should be done through the help of a small brush. The owner must clean the face as well without the product being removed unless there are instructions from the doctor allowing him to do so.

If there is full supervision on the dog, the owner might be able to remove the commodity for short durations of time. However, permission from the doctor should be obtained by the owner first. Usually, he will agree for its removal if the dog displays cooperation.

It will also help if treats are being provided to the pet whenever he is not complaining about this thing he is wearing. These treats are actually part of a reward system where dogs will try do to things regularly just to be able to get treats. In extreme cases, sedatives can also be administered to the animal. This will be for the best interest of the dog.
