Choose A Qualified Purebred Cavachon Dog Breeder

By Freida Michael

There are many reasons why people are drawn to a particular type of canine as their preference when seeking a new pet. These can include factors such as physical features, personality characteristics, specific skills, coat style and size among many others. A purebred Cavachon dog breeder in Minneapolis, MN can help an individual determine if this breed is a good choice for them.

This breed is known as designer dogs since they are a blend of the Bichon Frise and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. What makes them most desirable is that they are imbued with all the best characteristics and traits of both. One thing any interested parties should be aware of is that the AKC will not authenticate papers for these pups, nor will they recognize them as being eligible for competing in shows.

A lot of people find themselves attracted to the physical appearance of the animal before knowing anything more. Their contributing breeds are quite well known for being irresistibly cute and extremely attractive. They are wonderful for apartment or limited space living as they rarely exceed twenty pounds or grow larger than sixteen inches high.

There are two styles of fur that this type of pup may be born with. They could have the Spaniel's long and silky waves, in which case they should be brushed regularly to stay smooth and shiny and free of tangles and matting. The other possibility is loose, soft and short curls like those of the Bichon which will do best when given professional trimmings a few times throughout the year.

Wavy or curly, either coat style will possess the highly desirable trait of producing virtually no dander, which makes these pups very popular among allergy sufferers. Coloring can be solid in the Bichon way, or it may be white with splotches of black, red or sable as is the look of the Spaniel. The variations of hues, texture and length can come in a myriad of combinations in a single litter.

Cavachons have short muzzles that are midways those of the two contributing breeds, flanked by eyes that are slightly larger than normal and full of expression and animation. Small in stature, their general build is quite sturdy and sporty. This gives them the perfect structure for their very active tendencies and also better fit to play rambunctiously with children or other pets.

When it comes to personality, these dogs are actually overflowing with it. They are very affectionate and loving, have a high level of intelligence, possess great social skills and are quite cheerful, playful and responsive. These animals are definitely family oriented, gentle with young children and able to keep up with the more active ones with no problem.

House breaking is generally said to be the toughest challenge with this type of canine due to their very strong will and stubborn tendencies. It is recommended not only that socialization and obedience training begin as early as is feasible and that utilizing the crate method may make it somewhat easier. Best results are seen when corrected consistently and firmly, yet handled patiently and in a fair manner.
