With Natural Treats For Dogs NY Owners Will Have Healthier Pets

By Mattie Knight

The vast majority of people simply love animals and millions of households have one or more beloved pets. Pets are good for people. They have a positive influence on the psychological well being of their owners and some studies have even shown that they can aid in recovery after serious illnesses. Canines, especially, are so popular because of their unconditional love towards their owners. No wonder then that when it comes to natural treats for dogs NY pet owners never settle for second best.

Snacks should never be given to pets indiscriminately. Many people tend to give their pets snacks in lieu of personal attention or exercise. Many others provide a never ending supply of snacks simply because they want to show just how much they love their pets. This can be dangerous, because the snacks can easily become the main source of food. This, in turn, can lead to poor health because the pet does not get a balanced diet.

There are numerous different ready made types of snacks on the market. Vets warn, however, that many of these snacks are harmful to the health of pets even if the pets seem to love them. Not only do they contain almost no nutrition but many types are mostly made of fats and sugars. There have been cases of popular brands banned because they contained preservatives that are dangerous.

Many doggie lovers are surprised to learn that their pets simply love natural, raw vegetables and fruit. Whole carrots, for example, is not only nutritious but they also clean the teeth and aid with the digestive process. Apples, green beans and even a little bit of cabbage mixed in with other food are excellent snacks. Like humans, canines will have their preferences so it may be necessary to experiment.

There is nothing wrong with using raw meat as a special snack for your favourite doggy. However, portions should be small and infrequent. Apart from the fact that meat is expensive, canines tend to become fussy about what they eat if they are spoiled with real meat too often. The meat snack should be lean and it should be raw.

Eggs are excellent snacks for canines. They are high in protein and there is no dog on this earth that does not love an egg. It can be served scrambled, raw or even cooked. Eggs are excellent sources of protein. Experts warn, however, that doggies should not be given an egg more than once a week. More than one will expose them to cholesterol problems.

There are certain snacks that canines love but that should be avoided at all cost. Chocolate and alcohol, for example, can kill. Onions, garlic and caffeine are also well loved but they are extremely dangerous and should never form part of the diet of any canine. In fact, any snack with fat and sugar should be avoided.

It is only natural to want to spoil a pet. They add colour and love to the lives of their owners. However, pet owners that truly love their animals will not fall into the trap of giving their pets too many snacks or giving them snacks that are harmful to them, even if they happen to love it.
