This breed is all bay colored as the name implies. The breed was first developed in Great Britain during the seventeenth century. They were intended to be used as pack horses.

Part-breds are referred to as Cleveland Bay sport horses. A census collects and maintains information on these animals as a group.

They are counted on a worldwide basis. As for competition, they can compete in a variety of horse shows in which other breeds are also entered. There are many examples.

In order to gain recognition by the US Dressage Federation All Breeds Awards Program the same horse and rider performing together must achieve specific winning scores. These do not have to all be in one event. They can be in a combination of Halter, Driving, Western and Dressage. A dressage performances involves a variety of intricate steps.

This awesome performance is often called horse dancing due to its intricacy. The rider and horse are attuned to each other throughout. It requires many years of training and practice and must begin with raw talent to be achieved.

A Lifetime Achievement Award is based on a system of keeping score by accumulating points. The animal is judged on performance in parades, shows, trail rides and clinics. It takes multiple seasons of competition to qualify for this prestigious award.
