How To Survive In An Online Theological Seminary

By Jocelyn Davidson

It is a given for people to learn more of the Words of God. This is not only their duty to their faith, this is also an in-born desire to be closer to the Supreme Being. Of course, some people devote to their faith casually but there are those who dedicate the rest of their lives to serving God. This is the reason why they enroll at online theological seminary or physical classes.

It is definitely in one's nature to pursue a close relationship with the Lord. However, one will have to struggle and endure the hardships that will come one's way. There will be obstacles and it is up to one's diligence and perseverance to overcome these obstacles. Here are some helpful tips that will allow you to survive these hardships and obstacles too.

First, you should think of it as natural for you to not know anybody in the class. Do not fear or worry about it, you simply have to start engaging people to talk with you, ask questions, and such. By the time you notice it, you will get a bunch of people in your friend's list. Most of them will even become a prayer partner or your close friend.

Even if the said class is not as technical-sounding as engineering or information technology, you can assume that this will also take up money. If you are unable to pay off your school fees, then you should reconsider enrolling. Do not ever take out a loan for the sake of going to this class. Your payment as a servant of God is not much so you might not be able to pay off the loan later.

During the first week of your classes, you will oftentimes endure a syllabus shock. However, you have to hang in there. Every assignment given to you will be easy to accomplish, especially if you ask for the Lord's guidance. The Lord will be with you so you just have to trust in Him and pray.

Buy a calendar notebook. Your calendar notebook should have each day of the month in boxes. That way, you can write out the assignments and their deadlines. When you are writing in the calendar notebook, you can color code the assignments so that you know which one to prioritize.

Meeting up with a faculty adviser is a good idea. It will allow you to get to know who will be handling your class. If you want to meet the faculty adviser, you should do that within the first semester. When you meet up with the faculty adviser, be sure to get advice and encouragement.

When you are in this class, there are courses that you have to take. Be sure to take up speed reading courses. You also have to take up research writing methods courses as well as RS101. They are important courses to take because they help in making your assignment of writing papers a lot easier.

You need enough study time daily. However, you can turn your study time into a more effective time. You can use this as a time for meditation. It should not be a problem, considering how you will be required to study passages in your Bible. Converting your study time to a time for meditation should be a piece of cake.
