What You Should Know About Dog Boarding

By Annabelle Holman

A dog is one of the best companions any man can have. They miss you when you leave for work, and greet you enthusiastically by the door the moment you get back in. They are also natural antidepressants, chasing the blues away with a simple wag of the tail or a hot kiss on your face. They are the ones who love you more than anybody else.

This lovable nature inherent in dogs is one of the reasons why most pet lovers have canines around the house. In order to give back the love that one receives from their furry friends, owners see to it that their pooches are well taken care of. Some are even brought on vacations and trips, but on instances that pets have to be left behind, doting owners call upon dog boarding dc.

A dog boarding employs the same principle as having a house sitter when you go on an away trip for the holidays. You can either have the sitter come over to watch your pet and your house, or you can bring your dog over to the environment where the sitter is in. The first works pretty well when the person you have in mind is someone you really know, such as a best friend or a sibling. Some who live far away from family and most friends often choose the second option.

In the past years, people used to leave their loved ones in a kennel. Here, dogs are placed in pens and are locked up all day, allowing only a few hours of exercise. Dogs also interact with other dogs, only sometimes these encounters do not fare well. This led to the development of dog boardings, which are very far off from kennels.

There are many advantages of choosing boardings over the former, too. For one, though the staff are both pros in the said field, boarding staff tend to be warmer. They are genuine pooch lovers, so they do not really mind playing and cuddling with your pets. In fact, they really do not mind spending time with them at all. Not that the ones at a kennel do not love canines, they are just far too busy for a little playful banter.

Sitters also update you on even the tiniest details. You can contact them anytime to check on Rover, and they will give you detailed reports. They will even send over photos so that you will be able to see how little Fifi is faring while you are away.

Leaving him at home boarding will assure you he gets all the attention needed. Sitters usually focus on one pooch at a time, so they can be on top of every situation. Kennels usually assign a keeper to twenty dogs at once, so chances are he will not even notice a problem with your pet due to the other ones vying for his attention as well.

A stay with a sitter will not deprive him of that much needed energy. Canines come back from kennels looking anxious, and for good reason. Making him stay in such a place meant he had to be cooped up and allowed out only for two hours maximum. Sitters allow them the freedom to go around.

Most owners feel that it is best to just bring your pets when you go on a vacation. They keep the kids occupied, and they would love the new experience, too. If circumstances do not allow for this, however, then leaving them with a sitter is the next best thing.
